WHAT IS ONE HEALTH?
Crossing Disciplines.
One Health (OH) is a novel approach in health policy that conceives human health, non-human animal health, and environmental health as deeply interdependent. It strives to benefit humans, animals and ecosystems by promoting collaboration across disciplines and nations.
In its focus on the common vulnerability to disease, One Health calls attention to the vital exchanges and intersections between humans and non-human animals. But One Health approaches are limited if they treat these intersections as objects of natural science alone. This workshop is organized in response to the fundamental ethical and anthropological problems raised by health and disease at the human-animal interface. |
