One Health in Singapore
This workshop will consist of four panels, each panel focusing on a specific interface between humans and non-human animals: wildlife reservoirs, urban wildlife, zoonotic pandemics, and livestock. Each panel will include a scientist, a social scientist, and an ethicist, mirroring the interdisciplinary nature of a OH approach. The format of the workshop provides an innovative exemplar for how ethical and anthropological perspectives can promote new directions of scientific inquiry.
The aim of the workshop is first to create and strengthen a multidisciplinary and multi-institutional One Health group that will lead One Health research and education in Singapore and the region. A second aim is to share knowledge and experience in order to achieve solutions to challenges concerning public health and animal health in Singapore and the region. Finally, third, the workshop aims to provide critical yet constructive reflection from ethical and anthropological perspectives on the science of One Health.
